underStanding Stones ancient tools for today

I have always been intrigued by the philosophy that our lives and outlooks are molded by the manmade physical realm in which we find ourselves.

The question I ask: “Does our contemporary physical realm help us see clearly the common choices ahead or does it fog and soften those choices?”

I am also fascinated by how our ancient ancestors saw their world, their efforts to build and configure physical spaces as devices or tools to glean truths and guidance for their times.

Impressed by those neolithic standing stones, alignments to the sun and recognition of the phases of the moon, we may also look back at how primitive and limited their worldview now seems in comparison to ours. It is stark. But can we see as clearly the limitations of our own worldview, our view from within the standing stones of our towns and cities?

These questions inspired me to develop underStanding Stones. To remember that for over 5,500 years, we have erected stones to help us contemplate and see through the fog of the present.
